What People Think About the Disposable Vape Ban, And What They’re Using Now

June 03, 2025 — By Daire John Patten

London, June 2025 – Since June 1st, shops in the UK can no longer sell disposable vapes. You know, those little vapes you use once and toss away. The government stopped their sale because more and more kids were vaping, and because so many of these vapes were ending up as litter all over the place. But how do people feel about this? Are they happy? Upset? And what are they vaping now that these disposables are gone? Here’s what we’ve heard from everyday folks across the country.

Finally, About Time!

Lots of people, especially doctors, parents, and environmental groups, have been saying this ban should’ve happened ages ago. They’ve seen how easy it was for teenagers to get their hands on these fruity, brightly coloured vapes. Approximately 5 million disposable vapes were being discarded every week. Some were left on the streets, while others were piled up in bins. Sometimes, the batteries even caused fires in recycling centres.

Health Minister Andrea Leadsom said:

We are in the midst of a worrying rise in young people vaping. I want to stop youth vaping in its tracks - and a ban on disposable vapes is central to that.

For these individuals, the ban is a good thing. Fewer kids are vaping, and there is a controlled environment on the streets.

But What About Us?

On the other hand, some adult vapers are worried. Many quit smoking because disposable vapes were cheap and simple. Now, they feel like their easy option has been taken away. One person told us, “Disposables helped me quit cigarettes. Now I’m not sure what to do.”

And a recent survey shows that 18% of vapers worry they might start smoking again since disposables were banned.

Will This Change Anything?

Some people think the ban won’t really stop teens vaping, just make them switch to something else. That’s because companies started selling rechargeable vapes that look and feel like disposables, but you refill the pods. The BIG PUFF VAPES is one of them. It’s still legal, and a lot of people are buying it. So, it might just change the way people vape, not stop it.

It’s Confusing And Expensive

Disposable vapes used to cost around £5, a price that is affordable for most people. But reusable kits cost more upfront. You also need to know how to fill pods and charge batteries, which can be confusing.

One person said, “I walked into a shop, saw so many options, and just left. I didn’t know what to pick.”

People want something simple and affordable.

The Bigger Picture: Kids & Waste

Here’s what we know from the stats:

  • More young people were vaping. About 7 in every 100 children aged 11 to 17 were regular vape users. Many started with disposables, drawn in by the sweet flavours and bright packaging.
  • Vape waste was becoming a huge issue. Disposable vapes contain batteries, metal, and plastic, and most can’t be recycled. In 2024, the UK was throwing away more than 8 million vapes every week.

So... What Are People Using Now?

Even with the ban in place, vapers haven’t just stopped. They’re turning to longer-lasting, disposable-style devices, legal to buy (TPD Compliant), better value, and still super easy to use.

You can find them right now at Greet Vape, the UK’s premium online vape shop.

These are some of the most popular ones:

  • Crystal Pro Switch 30K Puff Huge capacity, up to 30,000 puffs. It has various settings, an HD screen and Dual mesh technology and lasts a long time, making it a great choice if you want value in a single device.
  • Elux Cyberover 6K A compact and sleek design with 6,000 puffs with battery indication so you can not be caught off guard. Strong flavours and a smooth feel.
  • Feoba Pro 6000 Simple, solid, and satisfying. Gives around 6,000 puffs with a good battery.
  • Hayati Mini Ultra 1500 Great for light users. Small and easy to carry, around 1,500 puffs per device.
  • Hayati Pro Max Plus A more powerful version that’s built for longer sessions with 6000+ puffs. Intense flavour and solid battery.
  • Hayati Pro Ultra Plus 25K One of the biggest on the list, up to 25,000 puffs. Perfect if you don’t want to keep buying new vapes every few days.
  • Hayati Remix 2400 A great mid-range option. Around 2,400 puffs, with good airflow and flavour.
  • Hayati Rubik 7000 Bold design and solid performance, around 7,000 puffs in one stylish device.
  • IVG Air 4 in 1 This one’s rechargeable and pre-filled with four different flavours. You can switch between them with a simple click. No need to carry more than one.

Why Are These Vapes So Popular?

  • They last longer than small disposables
  • You get more puffs = better value
  • They’re simple and easy to use
  • Flavours are strong and satisfying
  • Great for beginners and regular users
  • And yes, they’re still legal to buy in the UK

What Do People Want Going Forward?

Here’s what people are hoping for, now that the market is changing:

More affordable, easy-to-use kits

People want refillable or reusable vapes that feel just as simple as disposables. Not too expensive, not too technical.

Clearer advice

New vapers are asking for simple instructions on how to refill, charge, and clean. Many feel lost.

Keep the flavours (for adults)

Many adults say fruity or sweet flavours helped them stop smoking. They want those to stay, but agree they shouldn’t be sold to kids.

Easier ways to recycle

Even reusable vapes create waste. People want easier recycling for pods, coils, and batteries, maybe with return boxes in shops.

Final Thoughts

The disposable vape ban is a big shift, and not everyone agrees on whether it’s the right move. Some believe it will help reduce underage vaping and clean up our streets. Others are worried that adult users are being forgotten.

But one thing is clear: the way people vape in the UK is changing. And trusted vape shops like Greet Vape are stepping up, offering new, legal options that work just as well, if not better. Whether you’re looking for a long-lasting disposable or a refillable kit, there are still good choices out there. The key now is helping people find the one that works for them.
